Romancing the cork

Over the years a lot has been written about the pro's and con's of cork as a stopper for wine versus other more modern alternatives.  I've contributed my fair share of comment in the past, but one thing I keep coming back to is the romance of cork and the fact that is still and hopefully always remains an important sensory element to wine drinking (red in particular).  Wine drinking isn't merely a case of quenching a thirst, it's a lot more than that.  It uses all 5 sensory elements in the process, and yet also a 6th Sense in my view - a sense of passion/romance.  But there is still one major drawback to cork as a stopper for wine, besides the risky elements of oxidation leading to 'corked wine'.  And by that I mean simply forgetting to take a corkscrew along with you.  But fear not, there's a solution at hand, or 5 as it turns out..  Check this out for some tips so as to ensure that the passion at your next isolated picnic, or romantic sundowner trip on the yacht doesn't remain all corked up.. http://www.thedailymeal.com/5-creative-ways-open-wine-without-corkscrew
