South Africa's best sundowner spots

It’s that time of day here at the southern tip of Africa, and the weather’s just dying to be taken advantage of.

As much as the ever-suf-effrican term ‘sundowners’ typically conjour up images of the west coast, with the sun slowly edging towards the end of the ocean, one would be amiss not to remember that there are also sundowning lovers on the other side of the continent.  Not to forget still others in good ol’ Gauteng, my old home turf.

So yes, for those in Durbs and along the East Coast, sundowners are still an option, though you’re advised to get in early before bedtime, when the Capies just start thinking about where to go out for the evening. The Gautees are somewhere betwixt and between, and who says that sundowners can’t be a good thing on the banks of Zoo Lake for heavens sake! Those lucky enough to be spending this long weekend in the bushveld, well lucky buggars! It’s the ultimate spot for sundowners beside a waterhole, spotting wild game with the very same idea, though that said, False Bay's been throwing up its fair share of wild Great White beasts of late.

Have an excellent long weekend! Oh and PS: don’t forget to make that sundowner a glass or three of wine, it’s really much nicer that way, and well, just a lot better for you, that's all! For more ideas on where to go, check out: South Africa's best sundowner spots
